Tell us a bit about you …
I’ve always been a fan of vintage style and love nothing better than trawling salvage yards for interesting finds. I live in an 18th century cottage in the village of Grendon with husband Lee, 18 month old daughter Rose and dog Boo and have taken great pleasure over the years filling it with my junk shop finds.
Before becoming a full time mum I worked all over the country in commercial and marketing roles for innocent smoothies, Magners Cider, and Budweiser but was looking for a creative outlet closer to home in order to spend more time with family. I love gathering friends together for parties and great food, the natural progression has been to create a venue that can capture that intimacy and feel like an extra special ‘home from home’.
Tell us a bit about your business and what you offer …
The Old Garden Studio is a boutique venue for private gatherings, where small groups come to celebrate special and everyday occasions in style. We specialise in fully catered vintage-style tea parties, all served on beautiful fine bone china with lashings of cake and all the trimmings.
We run each tea party as a bespoke event, and pride ourselves on being flexible. We’re able to accommodate groups of up to ten in our lovely private tea room and garden, and have a range of ways to complement your tea party experience, from indulgent pamper packages to simply extra cakes!
We’re ideal for hen gatherings, pre-wedding teas, birthday celebrations, baby showers, or simply just an excuse to catch up with the girls in your own private space.
Why are you different?
We offer a really unique setting, with our lovely private tea room and garden providing the perfect space to relax, forget about the pressures of life and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea and a gossip. We’re (literally) a cottage industry, and our aim is to create the antidote to pre-packaged, corporate hospitality and instead create really special experiences with the personal touch.
We’re ideal for smaller groups who want the intimacy of a special treat without the super high price tag that comes with having to hire large commercial venues.
What inspires you?
I love a project, creating something beautiful from old, broken and run down things. The studio has in the past been a stable, a garden store, a boat workshop and now finally we’ve given it new life as a tea room. I’m an outdoor person too, and love pottering around the garden thinking of new things to grow and ways to make it feel magical.
What top tip, relevant to your service area, do you have for couples tying the knot?
Make sure you take the time out during all the planning to relax! It’s easy to get overwhelmed by it all, but so important to put things in perspective. Spend good quality time with your girlfriends now, and really enjoy being a daughter, sister or friend - as after the wedding you have to juggle all these with your new role as Wife too!
Visit The Old Garden Studio ... Go on ... You deserve it! ;0)
Until next time ...
