Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It’s that time of year where the wedding fairs are getting back up to full speed filled with thousands of ideas for your big day. If you’re anything like me, you’re at the stage where you know what your theme is, what colours you’re having, where the venue is and what dress you will be wearing on the day. So, when you’ve organised the ‘bigger’ parts of the wedding planning process… how do you tie it all together?
Thank you Pencils via Style Me Pretty |
Quite often it’s the little things that your guests remember when the day has been and gone. I attended a Welsh wedding a few years back where the favours for the girls were traditional handmade wooden Welsh ‘love’ spoons and for the boys it was Welsh whiskey. They were beautifully presented and I still have mine at home. It’s also the part of the planning process that I have been the most stressed over. Bringing the little things together and making them look cohesive throughout the day appears a lot harder than it sounds. Here are a few ideas that I have had along the way…
Little thank-you’s that your guests can utilise are a great way to keep them reliving the wedding long after the day is over.
Drinks Flags via Green Wedding Shoes |
Popping a coloured straw or flag into your reception drinks is a cheap way of tying a colour scheme together and perhaps making your guests take notice with a little message on there.
Pom-poms via Style Me Pretty |
You can decorate the ceremony venue if it is outside with some DIY paper lanterns and pom poms. They can also be moved to the evening reception to cut costs and maintain the same vision throughout.
Hanging lights via Unknown |
Got an outside area that your guests will be having drinks in or the ceremony? Hang some cheap light bulbs or plain glass baubles using fishing wire from nearby trees to give the background a feeling of interest plus it makes great photo opportunities!
I have a million and one ideas for ‘the little things’ for my own wedding and am going to have to rein in what I want unless I win the lottery very soon! DIY here I come…
Don’t forget to visit Wedding Sparrow for updates on the wedding! Until next month…
Much love.
